Frequently asked questions
Doesn’t my accounting software already do this?
Not really. Accounting softwares are made for accountants, not humans. Freely takes the guesswork out of determining if and which IRS expense categories your business expenses fall under. We use human-friendly categories such as software and apps, travel expenses, meals, etc.
Can I submit my taxes to the IRS through Freely?
Nope. Right now we’re focusing on what we do best: organizing your business expenses and generating the tax documents you need to file your taxes for your self-employed business no matter how you file your taxes (with tax software or an accountant). We want to give you the freedom to choose the tax filing method that suits you best!
Can I write off Freely as a business expense?
Yep! You can totally write off your subscription to Freely as a business expense. We’ll even do it for you 😉
Can I add multiple bank accounts and credit cards?
Of course! You can connect as many bank accounts and credit cards as you like. We support more than 11,000 banks (e.g. Chase, Capital One) as well as most credit unions (e.g. Navy Federal Credit Union), online payment accounts (e.g. PayPal), and credit cards (e.g. American Express).
Can Freely find deductible expenses for prior months?
Yes! If you join mid-year and want to go back to find deductible expenses from earlier in the year, you definitely can. In fact, you can generally go back up to 13 months which can certainly come in handy if you haven’t tracked any expenses for this year.
Is there a mobile app?
Not yet! However, our software is mobile-friendly. And if you want to access Freely on your mobile devices, you can add it to your Home Screen (we’ll send you some instructions on how to do this).
